DIGITAL HARLEM | A GUIDE TO MAP LAYERS
NOTES
- Each set of results you add to a map will appear in a different color. Layer colors are set automatically, in a preset sequence that continues even when you begin a new map. To reset the sequence so that it begins again with red, refresh your browser
- Relationship lines are not available for all search results; they are part of results for individuals and for some events
- For individuals, the lines link a residence with all the activities and events in which the individual was involved while living at that location (workplaces, sites of leisure, social club meetings, etc)
- For events such as crimes, the line links either:
- the location of the crime and the residence of the offender. At present, this data is not entered for most crimes; it is entered for all those charged with playing numbers (see the featured map Numbers Arrests)
- different locations related to a single event (in this case the event is marked with the icon appropriate to the event, and additional locations are identified with a colored circle)
- Event path lines are not available for all search results; they are part of the results for events which occur at a sequence of locations
- For events that occur at a series of locations, the lines link the locations in sequence
- For events such as parades, the lines trace the path from the starting location to the ending location
